OUTREACH PROGRAMS
As an enabling organization, one of the top priorities of the Michigan Memorial Phoenix Energy Institute is to encourage and facilitate partnerships with industry, government, and other universities on research, education, and technology transfer. Toward this end, MMPEI will be the “energy front door” to the University of Michigan. It will develop and facilitate a wide spectrum of interactions with its external constituents as follows:
- Carry out joint research programs for and with industry or government;
- Promote the utilization/commercialization of energy-related technologies and processes;
- Promote the consideration and adoption of public policies that impact the production and use of energy;
- Match companies and government agencies in need of a particular energy-related expertise with faculty experts;
- Assist industry in recruiting top quality students as employees or interns;
- Assist philanthropic organizations in effectively directing funding to pressing energy issues;
- Tap the expertise and experience of industry, government, not-for-profit personnel in formulating University energy research and education strategies.
The energy challenge will only be met if all segments of society—industry, government, academia and the general public—work together. The University of Michigan through MMPEI is committed to facilitating such cooperation.
